The new design “Matsu-Tora (pine tree and tiger)” has joined the premium Kanazawa-Haku fountain pen series that incorporates the exquisite beauty of Kanazawa gold leaf and masterful traditional techniques.
In Kanazawa-Haku fountain pen series, we have meticulously applied “Momi Chirashi,” Japan’s traditional technique that has been used in a folding screen or a painting on fusuma (Japanese sliding doors) since ancient time in Japan. After a gold leaf is extended to a thin square sheet, it is torn into smaller pieces and then pasted together. By pasting these random forms of the gold leaf together one by one by all hand, it creates a sense of unlimited depth, giving an elegant glow to the one-of-a-kind body.
The tiger and the pine tree, which are Japan’s representative auspicious motifs, drawn on the gold-leafed barrel make the pen a true masterpiece filled with elegance and dignity.

Tiger has been painted as an auspicious motif that represents wealth, status and posterity. Among the many paintings of tiger, we have selected “Rosho Mouko-zu (ferocious tiger)” drawn by Okyo Maruyama, a Japanese artist active in the Edo period, for the design to express vigor and loveliness of the tiger.

| A new color “LAVENDE,” which was inspired by lavender flowers, will be added to our #3776 CENTURY “NICE” series, which has been well received since its launch.
Nice is a world-renowned resort and tourist city located in Cote d’Azur in southern France. In early summer, the Province region experiences its most beautiful season, with blooming fields of lavender that stretch all the way to the horizon. The light purple lavender flowers, gently blowing in the early summer wind and bathed in soft light, are expressed through a sandblast finish applied on the high transparency resin barrel. Thereafter, sharp accent lines are added through shaper cutting. The pen also features an exquisite pink gold metal trim. Lavande, the French word for lavender, is said to be the “queen of herbs,” which is highly fragrant and has been prized as a medicinal herb since ancient Roman times for its healing effect. In flower language, lavender denotes “silence” due to the tranquilizing effect as well as its magically strong scent. The beauty of the Kanazawa-haku (gold leaf) and the traditional application techniques have joined together with the expert fountain pen craftsman, to release a premium masterpiece, the Kanazawa-haku fountain pen “Ascending Dragon,” our second “Kanazawa-haku (gold leaf)” fountain pen series after “Fujin Raijin (the Wind God and the Thunder God)”
Ascending Dragon has been painted as an auspicious work inspired from ancient time. Using the “Unryu-zu (a folding screen along with the painting of a dragon in the clouds)” painted by Sotatsu Tawaraya as a motif, we applied “Kanazawa-haku Momi Chirashi” technique meticulously on each of the fountain pens. By utilizing a modern “makie” technique, we have created a distinguished and sophisticated “Rimpa” style fountain pen. The base is Kanazawa-haku using Momi Chirashi, a traditional technique that after a gold leaf is extended to a thin sheet, it is torn into smaller pieces. These are then pasted to the barrel of the pen, giving an elegant glow that reflects light with depth and adding a lively motion to the dragon, which makes a remarkable, one-of-a-kind fountain pen.

It has normally been thought difficult to make an airtight pen with a screw-type cap. If not sealed tightly, the following problems can result:

| 3. | It can be necessary to clean the pen using our Ink Cleaner Kit or even to repair or replace the nib itself if the damage due to dried ink is too severe. |
